Gwynedd Council - Sacre And JHASW - The Planning Committee And Adra...

Cyngor Gwynedd council SACRE held a meeting on the 4th February.

STANDING ADVISORY COUNCIL ON RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The November meeting was attended by a Kiavdja Erzen, from the Jewish History Association of South Wales, who gave a presentation on the work of the JHASW.

It was detailed and informative yet was greeted with silence from the committee. It was left to a clearly embarrassed chair, Menna Baines, to thank Erzen for her presentaion.

The minutes of this section are not an accurate representation...

Would Erzen have been treated differently if she had given her presentation in Welsh? Was this a silent protest against a young jewish educator in Wales for Israel's actions in Gaza? So what was the reason for the appalling behaviour from members...?

Cyngor Gwynedd held a planning committee meeting on the 3rd Februarty, 2025. An issue was raised with the minutes of the previous meeting not including all names of those who were in attendance...

One retrospective application was refused contrary to the council's recommendation and yet again the long suffering planning officer had to coach members for a lawful reason for their refusal - presumably if it should go to appeal...

The last item on the agenda was an - Application to erect 16 dwellings with associated access, parking and landscaping on land by Talardd, Dinas, Caernarfon, LL54 7YN

Huw Rowlands, the local councillor opposed the application by the housing association ADRA.

He was supported by other councillors whose main focus appeared to be the dilution of the Welsh language by english speakers despite evidence to the contrary.

One critic of the scheme was slapped down by the chair for giving misleading information. The application was eventually passed by the committee...
